What is carbon-aware computing?
Carbon-aware computing means scheduling workloads to run when and where the electricity grid is cleanest. By shifting AI jobs to times of high solar or wind production — or to regions with low-carbon grids — we can dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of GPU compute without any performance penalty for the end user.
How does Green Cycles differ from AWS/GCP/Azure?
Hyperscalers offer carbon dashboards but don’t actively route workloads based on carbon intensity. Green Cycles makes carbon-awareness the default: every job is scored and scheduled to minimise emissions. We also offer a decentralised provider model, meaning anyone with spare GPU capacity — from home labs to small data centres — can participate.
What GPUs are supported?
At launch, we support NVIDIA GPUs from the RTX 3090 through H100 families. Our agent software runs on any Linux system with CUDA support. We plan to add AMD ROCm and Intel GPU support in future phases.
How are providers verified as “green”?
We offer tiered verification: Verified Green (lowest commission, as low as 2%) for providers with certified renewable energy documentation such as EU Guarantees of Origin, Self-declared Green (moderate commission) for those who attest with supporting evidence, and Standard (highest commission, up to 8%). Verified providers get priority scheduling and marketplace featuring. For GreenBox hosts, green status is verified automatically through the system’s energy monitoring.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All workloads run in isolated containers with encrypted data in transit and at rest. Provider nodes never see raw customer data. We’re GDPR-compliant and building towards ISO 27001 certification. EU-originating workloads with personal data stay within EU jurisdiction. Non-EU workloads can be processed globally. We’re developing confidential computing technology for secure cross-border processing.

A GreenBox is a turnkey, solar-powered GPU system designed for non-technical users. We deliver a quiet, compact computer to your home, a certified technician installs and connects it, and it automatically earns you income by processing AI workloads when your solar panels are producing clean energy. No tech knowledge needed. Rent-to-own options are available so you can start with low monthly payments that are offset by your earnings.
Can I provide GPU cycles from outside the EU?
Yes! We’re actively recruiting providers in the United States and worldwide. Non-EU providers can process non-GDPR workloads immediately. We’re also developing confidential computing technology that will enable secure cross-border processing of sensitive data in the future. The same green verification tiers apply globally.
Is Green Cycles a for-profit company?
Green Cycles is a social enterprise — structured as an SRL with social purpose under Belgian law, and pursuing B Corp certification. We are mission-driven: revenue is reinvested into donated compute for climate research and NGOs, certified technician training, and expanding access to green GPU hosting. The founder retains a 51% ownership stake as a mission lock. Green Cycles will never be publicly traded.
